Whether you are a Marine, FMF Sailor, family member, or supporter, we thank you for coming to our web site
Our Mission
The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 by World War 1 Veteran of Belleau Wood, Commandant of the Marine Corps, then Major General John A. Lejeune.
Its goal; to band together in fellowship all honorable Marines, that they may be effective in promoting the ideals of American freedom and democracy which they have defended since 1775; to serve as ably as citizens as they did their nation under arms; to hold sacred the history and memory of their comrades who gave their lives; to create a strong bond of comradeship between the men in the service and those who have returned to civil life; to aid their comrades, their widows and orphans; to be ever mindful of the glorious history of their Corps.

OLDEST MILITARY ORGINIZATION, TRADITIONS,
these words become real in their meaning, taking root deep within a man through such organizations. It is when we have left the glorious CORPS WHICH WE ARE PROUD TO SERVE that we wish most to be ALWAYS A MARINE, and come back under the slightest pretence to see those men still in the service, to gain a tangible touch and leave, feeling better and more ready to serve ably as citizens. It is the contact with those, honorably returned to civil life, that the man still in the servoice gains his knowledge of TRADITION and the pride which leads him to be FIRST TO FIGHT FOR RIGHT AND FREEDOM AND TO KEEP OUR HONOR CLEAN.

Within the detachment,
there is no award higher than that of, the
"Marine of the Year".
This award can only be bestowed upon a
Marine Corps League member by the
Marine of the Year Society.
All detachments have a Marine who performs and displays the dedication, leadership qualities and principles of a good
Marine above all others.
It is this M

It is this Marine who is always willing to roll up his/her sleeves, to do that tough job, the daunting tasks or put in the long hours of personal sacrifice, without hopes of reward, all to achieve the goals of the detachment and the
Marine Corps League.
All of this, is evaluated through the Marines participation, and noteworthy accomplishments, perseverance and devotion to duty.
"Marine of the Year"
is the award to recognize that special Marine.
